A group of school district resident volunteers met in the fall/winter of 2010 to discuss and pursue the possibility of establishing a Dollars for Scholars® chapter for the Jordan community.   Nearby communities that have Dollars for Scholars chapters include Belle Plaine, Prior Lake and Shakopee, as well as Minnesota River Conference districts Le Sueur-Henderson and Tri-City (Montgomery-Le Center-Lonsdale).   Minnesota has over 120 chapters.

On December 13, 2010, after submitting the required documents, Jordan's Dollars for Scholars chapter was recognized and became a tax-exempt charitable 501(c)(3) organization.

Through the generosity of many established and existing scholars that have now partnered with our Dollars for Scholars program, the Class of 2012 was the first graduating class to be awarded scholarships through this nationally recognized program.

Jordan Dollars for Scholars aims to enhance scholarship opportunities seeking individual, business and charitable organization contributions, streamline the application process, and raise awareness on how families or individuals can create named scholarships or contribute to the 717 Club endowment.

Our Mission

The purpose of the Chapter shall be to expand access to higher education for resident students within the Jordan School District.  The Chapter will do this by promoting the Dollars for Scholars® program, developing an operational structure, raising funds for student aid distribution, and distributing awards on a fair and nondiscriminatory basis.

It is the founding vision of Jordan Dollars for Scholars® that expanded access to higher education does not solely focus on more scholarship dollars, but also that distribution of those dollars is over a wider cross-section of college-bound high school graduates, not just those graduates with the highest GPA's or attending the most prestigious colleges.
